Hello from Copenhagen, Denmark!
We made it safe and sound. The flight was as enjoyable as any 11 hour span of time could be with restricted movement, less than desirable food, crying babies and snoring men (not Adam). Once at the airport, it was just a quick walk through customs, a slightly longer wait for the bags, then we were on the metro and in the city! Our first stop was the Airbnb. In traditional European style, the apartment was located up many flights of stairs. We set our belongings down and headed out for a quick bite to eat from the local grocery store. It wasn't long until we started meandering through the city, reminiscing about our time here exactly 2 years ago to the day! Our walk started us off along a canal to the Christianshavn neighborhood, and into a small ice cream shop for a pick-me-up, then through the free town of Christiania. The area was very artsy with local vendors lining the streets and people roaming through the stands.
We continued on towards the town favorite, Nyhavn. This area is the tourist hot spot with restaurants and shops lining the canal. Many people stop to sit at the edge of the canal for a snack or drink when the weather is nice out, which it was today. In similar fashion, we stopped at the edge of the canal for a quick break while Adam enjoyed a Tuborg (Denmark's equivalent to a Bud Light). Dinner was fast approaching, so we left the bustling canal and headed down the street to a familiar restaurant. Dinner was at Selena Pizza, the same place we had been 2 years previous. Adam ordered his favorite pastrami sandwich and I went with the spaghetti carbonara. Dinner was delicious and just the right amount of fuel and rest we needed to make it back to our Airbnb.
We left the restaurant and wandered through the city for just a but longer before finally making it back to our apartment for the night. Tomorrow is an early morning, with an 8 am flight to Krakow in Poland. But don't worry, we will be promptly falling asleep by 8 or 9 pm. Enjoy the pictures from today and our FitBit stats!
